60 Second Screenwriter
A video series addressing key screenwriting concerns in one minute.
A video series addressing key screenwriting concerns in one minute.
Some time ago, I proposed an idea to my DePaul University film school colleagues: What if we produced a lively, informative series of videos called 60 Second Screenwriter? The concept was simple: Aggregate questions relevant to anyone interested in the craft of screenwriting, then use DePaul students and faculty to produce the series?
And we did it! There are 14 videos, each about one minute long. The response has been great. Here are links to all of the videos:
Episode 1: What makes a great beginning of a script?
Episode 2: What are some tips on rewriting a script?
Episode 4: Do I need to move to L.A.?
Episode 5: Let’s talk story structure
Episode 7: What is a flashback?
Episode 8: What is high concept?
Episode 9: How is a screenplay different than a novel?
Episode 10: How to come up with story ideas?
Episode 11: What is a character arc?
Episode 12: What’s a log line?
Episode 13: What’s an elevator pitch?
Episode 14: Should I make a short film?
I had a great time producing the 60 Second Screenwriter series working with my fellow faculty members and a terrific group of undergraduate and graduate students. Here is the production team:
Director: Penny Penniston
Producer: Scott Myers
Cinematography: Shannon Kuncé
Production Audio Mixer: Eagle Liao
Editor & Colorist: Ana Christian
Post Audio: Joey DeFabio
I hope you enjoy the videos!
