One month. FADE IN to FADE OUT. Creativity meets Productivity.

Zero Draft Thirty: Day 29.

Write an entire draft of a script in September — FADE IN. FADE OUT. Or any sort of creative goal you have in front of you.

Feature length movie screenplay. Original TV pilot. Rewrite a current project. Break a story in prep. Generate a month’s worth of story concepts.

Whatever you feel will ratchet your creative ambitions into overdrive…

DO THAT!

As for me, I will spend the month rewriting a feature film spec script. It’s based on a story concept I came up with late last year and it may be the strongest comedy idea I’ve ever worked on. Now to take it to the next level.

If you join the Challenge, I will be right there with you writing each and every day in March! Let’s do this together!

Today’s Writing Quote

“It’s all about what happens next, what happens next. It’s speed chess, not chess.”

— Richard Price

Today’s Inspirational Video

I recently discovered the composer Akira Rabelais whose work extends over quite a bit of musical geography. His last album “the little glass” is primarily comprised of ambient keyboard pieces. This one is especially contemplative and I find great for writing.

Today’s Daily Dialogue Inspiration

I have dedicated the 2025 Zero Draft Thirty March Challenge to memorable movie dialogue. Today: Bridesmaids.

This is one of my favorite Protagonist-Mentor movie moments. Annie is unhappy with who she is. That’s why Helen is such a great Nemesis because she represents everything Annie wishes she were: beautiful, confident, married, children, great house, money. But Megan, who is entirely comfortable with who she is, shows up and challenges Annie in her “pity party.” She lays down the truth:

“I do not associate with people that blame the world for their problems cause you’re your own problem Annie, and you’re also your solution.”

Instead of seeking external validation, Annie needs to look within to find some self-love and self-acceptance.

So, if you feel a lack of confidence about your writing, don’t blame others. Look inside yourself and commit to becoming the best writer you can.

This very experience — the Zero Draft Thirty Challenge — is helping you do precisely that. You get better as a writer by writing.

Keep writing. Only 3 more days until the end of the Challenge.

Make these last set of pages count.
