Today’s Writing Quote
“Great writing gets you meetings, great concept gets you a sale, great characters get you jobs. All three get you a career.”
— F. Scott Frazier
Today’s Inspirational Video
It’s Michael Winslow. A microphone. And with just his vocal stylings, he becomes Jimi Hendrix.
And then the REAL thing!
Today’s Anita Loos Award winner: Anita Brandt Burgoyne.
Over at the Zero Draft Thirty Facebook group page, Anita posted this:
And that’s how this month goes. My husband knows the far away expression means I’m off with my characters in their world. He also knows I eventually come back. So it’s all good.
Accompanied by this photo:

I think we all can relate. When you go into the story, that translates into going inside your head. You’re there … but you’re somewhere else.
So strange, right?
We’re sitting in this world … but experiencing that world … then writing those experiences in this world.
Really strange, yes?
That’s why I call the process of writing a story: wrangling magic.
But it’s all good, especially when we get into that flow. Then, like Anita, our face has that “far away expression” as we’re “off with our characters in their world.”
There’s nothing quite like it.
Writing is hard. It’s also magical.
For that reminder, the recipient of today’s Anita Loos Award is Anita Brandt Burgoyne!

Congratulations, Anita! Feel to print this award and post it at your writing desk for inspiration.
