2023 Zero Draft Thirty March Challenge: Day 8

One month. FADE IN to FADE OUT. Creativity meets Productivity.

Zero Draft Thirty: Day 8.

Write an entire draft of a script in March — FADE IN. FADE OUT. Or any sort of creative goal you have in front of you.

Feature length movie screenplay. Original TV pilot. Rewrite a current project. Break a story in prep. Generate a month’s worth of story concepts.

Whatever you feel will ratchet your creative ambitions into overdrive…

DO THAT!

As for me, I will spend the month rewriting a feature film spec script.

If you join the Challenge, I will be right there with you writing each and every day in March! Let’s do this together!

Today’s Writing Quote

“I sit in the dark and wait for a little flame to appear at the end of my pencil.”

Today’s Inspirational Video

Of course, the Zero Draft Thirty community has our very own inspirational critter: Scamper the Hamster.

Today we welcome another inspirational critter: Motivational Lizard.

Hey, there friend. I know you’ve been having some troubles lately. Be the person I know you can be. Don’t leave anything up to chance. I believe in you, pal. We ALL believe in you. UR a winner, kiddo. Don’t you ever forget.

Today’s Stax Music Video

I have dedicated the 2023 Zero Draft Thirty March Challenge as Stax Music Month. Part of that decision is to honor one of the greatest record companies of all time (check out their history here). But mostly, it’s an excuse to feature awesome R&B and soul music to get you out of your chair, dance around the room for 5 minutes, churn up your creative juices, then sit right back down and write your ass off.

Today’s featured song: “Last Night” by The Mar-Keys

Today’s Dalton Trumbo Award winner: R.M. Elliott.

Over in the Zero Draft Thirty Facebook group, Justin Major shared this sad news:

For all you day 1 zeronauts, outlaws, scamperers we lost a champion for good this week to cancer. R.M. Elliott was a constant encourager, champion for amazing stories, and a mainstay in this room since it’s creation in 2015.
Keep up the great work on your ZD30 work this month! Remember to leave it all on the page, say what needs said, paint the pictures that will send future generations on journeys of their lifetime!
Don’t forget to be awesome!

I checked. R.M. joined the Zero Draft Thirty Facebook group like quite literally the day we started the page: November 2, 2015. Here is his final Zero Draft Thirty post:

Congrats to the finishers and those still winding away. Remember Outlaws don’t let others define their success. I just finished editing a Christmas screenplay while writing another. (Hopefully finishing it by Friday.) Let’s hang in there and make good use of Scott’s margarita machine soon. CONTINUE writing and creating the story you’re supposed to tell.

Accompanied by this:

For his many years supporting the Zero Draft Thirty community and in his memory, the recipient of today’s Dalton Trumbo Award is R.M. Elliott.
