One month. FADE IN to FADE OUT. Creativity meets Productivity.

Zero Draft Thirty: Day 24.

Write an entire draft of a script in March — FADE IN. FADE OUT. Or any sort of creative goal you have in front of you.

Feature length movie screenplay. Original TV pilot. Rewrite a current project. Break a story in prep. Generate a month’s worth of story concepts.

Whatever you feel will ratchet your creative ambitions into overdrive…

DO THAT!

As for me, I will spend the month co-writing a feature film spec script. It’s based on a story concept I came up with late last year and it may be the strongest comedy idea I’ve ever worked on. My writing partner and I have spent the first two months of the year on character development and breaking story. Now it’s time to jam out a first draft!

If you join the Challenge, I will be right there with you writing each and every day in March! Let’s do this together!

Today’s Writing Quote

“Just have good characters and good scenes and something that plays.”
— Billy Wilder

Today’s Inspirational Video

The great L.A. Dodger broadcaster Vin Scully calls this epic home run by Kirk Gibson. Amazing moment. Amazing job by Scully.

Today’s Loos Award winner: Crystal Brooks.

Over at the Zero Draft Thirty Facebook group during a recent Twenty-Four Hour Writing Scamper-A-Thon, Crystal wrote this:

I am grateful to this community as I’ve just been slack with the ZD30 Challenge so far. But I knew that today, I was going to hunker down, sit in this chair and start that rewrite that I swore I would finish by March 30th. I feel like I’m the Queen of Procrastination sometimes. But I realize this script won’t write itself! I love all of the Accountability posts that have kept me motivated. So Scamper On Everyone!

And posted this:

The way i look at it is this: Procrastination is the symptom. Perfectionism is the cause. When we adopt the zero draft thirty approach, where it’s about the productivity, about getting words down onto the page, that is one way of combating the clutch of perfectionism.

For that bit of inspiration and insight, the recipient of today’s Ben Hecht Award is Crystal Brooks!

For your chance to win the Ben Hecht Award, one given away each day during the Challenge, post something inspiring, here on the blog, via Twitter (#ZD30SCRIPT), or the Facebook group.
