2023 Zero Draft Thirty March Challenge: Day 16
One month. FADE IN to FADE OUT. Creativity meets Productivity.
One month. FADE IN to FADE OUT. Creativity meets Productivity.
Zero Draft Thirty: Day 16.
Write an entire draft of a script in March — FADE IN. FADE OUT. Or any sort of creative goal you have in front of you.
Feature length movie screenplay. Original TV pilot. Rewrite a current project. Break a story in prep. Generate a month’s worth of story concepts.
Whatever you feel will ratchet your creative ambitions into overdrive…
DO THAT!
As for me, I will spend the month rewriting a feature film spec script.
If you join the Challenge, I will be right there with you writing each and every day in March! Let’s do this together!

Today’s Writing Quote
“Don’t write about a character. Become that character, and then write your story.”
— Ethan Canin
Today’s Inspirational Video
If you’re not familiar with the musical group OK Go, they are known for doing elaborate videos. Like really elaborate. Check out this Rube Goldberg inspired take for their song “This Too Shall Pass”.
Today’s Stax Music Video
I have dedicated the 2023 Zero Draft Thirty March Challenge as Stax Music Month. Part of that decision is to honor one of the greatest record companies of all time (check out their history here). But mostly, it’s an excuse to feature awesome R&B and soul music to get you out of your chair, dance around the room for 5 minutes, churn up your creative juices, then sit right back down and write your ass off.

Today’s Dalton Trumbo Award winner: Kristin Gacon!
Over at the Zero Draft Thirty Facebook group page, Kristin posted this:
Had a great day today and zoomed through 12 pages. Spent the first week just finishing outline so a little behind overall but glad to get a good full day of pages under my belt.
My response:
There you go, Kristin. 12 pages! Check out the history of that number. It’s important. 12 months in a year. The 12 disciples. 12 signs of the Zodiac. Represents perfection. And pounding out 12 pages in a day … well, that pretty much is a writer’s definition of perfection!
12 pages is great. 12 pages is awesome. Some days, we catch a creative wave and there we are … 12 pages later.
But you know what? Some days, if all you can manage is 1 page …
That’s all right, too.
Because 1 page puts you 1 page closer to Fade Out.
For that inspiration, the recipient of today’s Dalton Trumbo Award is Kristin Gacon!
