One month. FADE IN to FADE OUT. Creativity meets Productivity.

Zero Draft Thirty: Day 6.

Write an entire draft of a script in September — FADE IN. FADE OUT. Or any sort of creative goal you have in front of you.

Feature length movie screenplay. Original TV pilot. Rewrite a current project. Break a story in prep. Generate a month’s worth of story concepts.

Whatever you feel will ratchet your creative ambitions into overdrive…

DO THAT!

September 1: You type FADE IN / “Once upon a time…”
September 30: You type FADE OUT / “…They all lived happily ever after.”

It’s free! It’s fun! It’s Fade In to Fade Out!

Today’s Writing Quote

“If I have anything to say to young writers, it’s stop thinking of writing as art. Think of it as work.”

— Paddy Chayefsky

Today’s Inspirational Video

This is the ending of the wonderful 1964 movie Zorba the Greek. These two characters, so utterly different personalities, have just suffered a crushing blow to their business plan. How do they choose to respond? Dance. Sometimes in the face of tragedy or hardship, it’s the only thing to do… let the universe know that your spirit isn’t broken, indeed, it is alive and well.

Zero Draft Thirty: Day 4
Zero Draft Thirty: Day 5

Each day this month, I’ll post a Zero Draft Thirty Challenge post here at Go Into The Story. And as I’ve done with every past Challenge, I will hand out an award for a notable Tweet, Facebook post, or comment here on the blog. This cycle, the winner will receive the Anita Loos Award!

Today’s Anita Loos Award winner: Cherri Stoute.

Over at the Zero Draft Thirty Facebook group, Cherri posted this:

Hyperbolic, yes. Most writers are not clinically insane. However, it does require a certain type of “insanity” to…

…Believe your story’s characters exist.

…Have faith that your words may transform into a well-told story.

…Sit for hours on end bashing your head against a computer monitor (not literally, of course).

…Turn down opportunities to do something fun in order to write.

…Participate in the Zero Draft Thirty Challenge!

Thank goodness, we have such well-developed skills at hiding our “insanity.”

For this piece of ironic inspiration, today’s Anita Loos Award recipient is Cherri Stoute!

Embrace your “insanity” and trust that at the end of September, you WILL be typing FADE OUT on your #ZD30SCRIPT project!

Now, go write!
