Today’s Writing Quote

“Screenplays don’t have to read like an instruction manual for a refrigerator. You can write them as a pleasurable read.”

— William Goldman

Today’s Inspirational Video

Joseph Campbell was born on March 26, 1904 and to celebrate his birthday, check out the conversation in the video above with one of the great thinkers about Story, Creativity, and Life.

Campbell said: “Follow your bliss. The bliss is the message of God to yourself. That’s where your life is.” As writers, we follow our bliss every time we sit down to engage our stories. In that enthusiasm, we come alive.

Today’s Loos Award winner: Denise Deegan.

Over at the Zero Draft Thirty Facebook group, Denise posted this:

Hi! I’m probably too late to join in the March challenge. Will there be one in April? Thanks so much.

Officially, the Zero Draft Thirty Challenges run every March and September. The rationale: This way, you can write two spec scripts every year. However, there is no reason a writer can’t do a Challenge any month. Start on Day One. End on the last day of the month. Get a calendar and mark off your progress every day. Simply use the structure of the month of days to write a zero draft.

So, Denise, you can begin your journey today. As some have noted, you’d be amazed how much you can get written in a week. Whatever you accomplish before April will give you a head-start into next month and your own personal Zero Draft Thirty Challenge.

To incentivize you more, you are today’s Anita Loos Award recipient!
