Whatever you feel will ratchet your creative ambitions into overdrive…

Today’s Writing Quote
“Every 5 to 10 pages, I want a big fist to come out of the screenplay and punch the reader in the gut.”
— Allan Durand
Today’s Inspirational Video
To me, there is no more inspirational creative figure than Bob Dylan. The very first song I learned to play on the guitar when I was 14 was “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right”. It was music which led me away from a life in academics and into this life I know now: Writer and Teacher. And throughout my journey, Dylan has been a consistent part of my musical soundtrack. In this video, listen to how strong his voice is, how clear and powerful his performance. The song itself is a testament to metamorphosis which lies at the heart of the Hero’s Journey and virtually every story. Be inspired by Bob Dylan!

Each day this month, I’ll post a Zero Draft Thirty Challenge post here at Go Into The Story. And as I’ve done with every past Challenge, I will hand out an award for a notable Tweet, Facebook post, or comment here on the blog. This cycle, the winner will receive the inaugural Ben Hecht Award!
Today’s Ben Hecht Award winner: Mahendra Waghela. For uploading this nifty sketch of our Spirit Animal: Scamper the Hamster.

Why the connection between zero draft consciousness and a hamster? The origin is lost in the mist of time, but I suspect it has something to do with this:

Zero Draft writers are busy writers. We embrace being productive. Write every day. Better to put words down than not. Go! Go! Go! We don’t do writing sprints, we do writing scampers.
For that reminder of the Zero Draft Spirit Animal, today’s recipient of the Ben Hecht Award is Mahendra Waghela!

Congratulations, Mahendra!
