2017 Black List Word Cloud Logline Challenge: Winners!

Some inventive loglines based on key words from 2017 Black List scripts.

The challenge started with a word cloud based on the loglines for the 2017 Black List scripts, all 76 of them:

The prizes:

• 5 Semifinal Winners: 1 free Craft class I will be teaching next year through Screenwriting Master Class. See schedule below. Each winner gets their choice of one class.
• 3 Finalist Winners: Free 1 script read + 1 month script hosting via the Black List website + 1 free Craft class.

Walter uploaded 12 entries which overwhelmed the judges with his passion for this contest. But it was this entry which won them over:

A YOUNG WOMAN who LOST her DAUGHTER to CANCER, and later EXPERIENCED HAVING TWO ABORTIONS in ONE YEAR, is FORCED to HELP her FORMER HUSBAND ESCAPE from PRISON, then DIES SOON AFTER. (Romantic Comedy.)

It was the addition of ‘Romantic Comedy’ which sealed the deal because there is NOTHING about the logline which suggests rom-com. We are most curious how a filmmaker would pull of a romantic comedy based on the logline.
